What is a sun salutation?
- -> A sun salutation is simply a salute to the sun; it’s a way to greet the day, practice gratitude, get your blood flowing, and create some beautiful prana (energy)! It is also referred to as Surya Namaskar and consists of Mountain pose, forward fold, halfway lift, high plank, cobra or chaturanga dandasana, downward facing dog.

Who can join?
- - > Anyone who has been practicing yoga for at least a month and know what a downward facing dog is.

Do I need to be able to finish all 108 salutations to join?
- - > No you don't have to do all of them. Just like our regular yoga practice I will be encouraging you to take breaks when you need to and join us again when you are ready (you can also modify your flows and skip parts of it like cobra pose or chaturanga when you want to).

What is the siginicance of the number 108?
- -> The tradition of 108 sun salutations is typically performed upon the change of seasons: Winter & Summer Solstice and Spring & Fall Equinox (- or any sort of change in your life that you would like to celebrate). It’s an offering to yourself and the community that participates alongside you.

Why are we doing it mid-winter?
- -> To celebrate the start of a new semester and us being halfway through the year. We let go of the old and welcome the new.
